Prosperity: Fact or Fiction

biblemoney

The Bible speaks of money more than any other topic. While it is true someone in a hut in a third world country may not be ready for this particular message, it doesn’t mean someone somewhere else isn’t.

You can no doubt be saved from a spiritual standpoint without financial faith just as you can be saved without a healing faith. However, let’s not forget that the the holistic pattern of redemption has always been spiritual, financial, and physical. We see it in the Exodus…:

And the LORD spake unto Moses, Go unto Pharaoh, and say unto him, Thus saith the Lord, Let my people go, that they may serve me. Exodus 8:1

Spiritual 👆🏼

And the children of Israel did according to the word of Moses; and they borrowed of the Egyptians jewels of silver, and jewels of gold, and raiment: And the Lord gave the people favour in the sight of the Egyptians, so that they lent unto them such things as they required. And they spoiled the Egyptians. Exodus 12:35-36

Financial 👆🏼
I especially love “the Lord gave the people favor” part…unmerited favor…grace to spoil the Egyptians.

He brought them forth also with silver and gold: and there was not one feeble person among their tribes. Psalm 105:37

Financial & Healing/Physical 👆🏼

And when they had this done, they inclosed a great multitude of fishes: and their net brake. And they beckoned unto their partners, which were in the other ship, that they should come and help them. Luke 5:6-7

Wonder what Peter and his partners did with all those fish? 🤔

Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health, even as thy soul prospereth. 3 John 2

Financial • Physical • Spiritual

But thou shalt remember the Lord thy God: for it is he that giveth thee power to get wealth, that he may establish his covenant which he sware unto thy fathers, as it is this day. Deuteronomy 8:18

Deuteronomy 8:18 is one of my personal faves as this one ties wealth to God’s establishment of the covenant. Wha?!?!?! 💥

Here’s my ultimate favorite…

And when they were come into the house, they saw the young child with Mary his mother, and fell down, and worshipped him: and when they had opened their treasures, they presented unto him gifts; gold, and frankincense and myrrh. Matthew 2:11

Gold • Frankincense • Myrrh

Finance: Gold (self explanatory)

Health: Frankincense sometimes referred to as olibanum, is a common aromatherapy that can offer a variety of health benefits, including helping relieve chronic stress and anxiety, reducing pain and inflammation, and boosting immunity. It is also often used to fight cancer. (Thanks Google!)

Spiritual: Myrrh:
Moses was to use 500 shekels of liquid myrrh as a core ingredient of the sacred anointing oil.

As soon as Christ stepped into this world, holistic redemption was manifest!

While this may, for obvious reasons, not be the first message one should preach to third world citizens in a hut, it is most definitly the same Bible. If preachers stayed in the hut long enough…their disciple would most definitley mature to the point of need for this message.

Rather than slamming so-called prosperity proponents, people should recognize they are still in the Word of God and perhaps called to a different flock at a different degree of discipleship. I understand. Wealth and prosperity isn’t every preacher’s spiel. Some may never be called to disciple kingdom financiers. Likewise, the finance message would not be most effective in the hut initially. However, we must acknowledge prosperity is relative. Propserity may look different in a first world nation vs a third world country…it’s prosperity all the same!

Again, people can make it with the spiritual alone. They can make it with both spiritual and health. Likewise, they can make it in spiritually, physically, and financially. After all, there were 10 lepers healed and yet only one was made whole.

Like Ezekiel, we must eat the whole roll to be most effective in the kingdom of God. Grace appears for all needs including finance. It’s the unmeritied favor of God that shows up with help in our times of need whether that need be spiritual, physical, or financial…it’s the same saving Grace that applies!
